FREE State Program Application Assistance

Healthcare for the Disabled, Pregnant Women, & Children

Coverage is through Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
If you apply for benefits for children or pregnant women we first look to see if you can get Medicaid. If you can't get Medicaid, we look to see if you can get CHIP.

Medicare

Health Insurance Seniors turning 65, disabled individuals on SSDI for 24 months, or individuals with ESRD
Can apply 3 months before your 65th birthday, the month of, or 3 months after

Healthy Texas Women

You can get these services if you are a woman and:

Are 18 to 44 years old
Age 15-17 with a parent or legal guardian applying for you
A U.S. citizen or legal immigrant
Live in Texas
Don’t have health insurance
Are not pregnant
Make at or below the monthly family income limits

Medicaid for Seniors and the Medicare Savings Program

You must already get Medicare to apply for the Medicare Savings Program.
This program helps with costs for Medicare premiums, co-pays and deductibles.

TANF Cash Help

There are three types of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) to help families with children age 18 and younger:
TANF: Monthly cash payments
One-Time TANF: Once every 12 months for families in crisis
One-Time TANF for Relatives: If caring for a child who gets TANF

SNAP Food Benefits

Most adults with no children in the home can only get Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for 3 months in a 3-year period.
Most people age 16 to 59 must follow work rules to get SNAP Food Benefits. Some adults, such as those who have a disability or are pregnant, might not have to work.
TSAP is a simplified application and certification process for SNAP food benefits. It is for households where all members do not receive earned income and are either older adults (60+) or people with disabilities. The TSAP application is shorter and has a 36-month certification period.

Long Term Care Services

This help is for daily health care and living needs. Help can be at home or in certain places of care.
If you pick one or both of these items, the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) will contact you.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED

The state requires certain documents to be submitted with each application to verify the needs of the individuals applying. This may include but not limited to: state identification or a drivers license, social security card, verification of income, verification of bills that you pay ect... Please bring this documentation with you to submit with your application. Not doing so will delay your application for processing.
